Comm.Arts — Spelling Unit 32 with test on Friday. They will be reading Chapter 5-8 in The Lion,The Witch and the Warbrobe. The students will need to have their Fantasy Kingdom finished April 30th. It was assigned last Mon. The last Book talk will be due May 7th. In lang. they will still be working on their poems and pronouns.
Social Studies – They will still be working on China. They will be reading lesson 1-2 and doing the questions after each chapter. Scholastic News on Fri.

Comm.Arts – With the MAP over with this will be a regular week. The students will be doing Unit 31 in spelling and taking the test on Fri. They will be starting a poetry unit in language and working on pronouns. They wil be reading The Lion,the Witch and the Wardrobe and they will be designing their own fantasy kingdom for the Unit. This will be a project for home. They will present their kingdom to the class starting April 30th. Their book talks will be presented May 7th.
Social studies — They will be working on the different ancient philosophies in China this week. On Fri. they will be reading Scholastic News Mag.

Comm.Arts — They will be working on Unit 29 in spelling this week. The test will be Thurs. since we will be out of school on good Friday. We will be reviewing for the MAP test which the students will be taking next week. The story that they will be reading this week is called ” My First Dive with the Dolphins” The packet will be handed out Tues. and will be handed in on Thurs.
Social Studies– Both classes will be working on a Asia map this week. Scholastic News will be on Thurs. this week.

Comm. Arts– The spelling unit is 27 and test is Friday. They will be reviewing in lang. and the students will be reading “The Scribe” in Reading.
Social studies — The students will be reading lesson 3 and 4 in Chapter 7. They will finish up with India this week. They will have a quiz Friday over the two lessons.

Comm.Arts – Unit 25 in spelling and test on Fri. Reading “Oh Broom Get to Work” in the Lit. book and will have a packet assigned on Tues. and will be due on Thurs. Will finish up on verbs this week. Will hand out March reading log today.
Social Studies – The students will read “The Indus Valley Civilization” and answer the 6 questions that will go with that reading. They will also read “Saraswati Earthquake and the students will write a persuasion paper telling what they would do in the same situation as the story. They will also look at The Indian caste System and compare our society to India’s system. Friday is Scholastic News.

Comm. Arts – Spelling unit 24 which is a review unit. Test will be Fri. there will be 30 words instead of 20. In Language the students will review the verbs section. They will be reading “The Circuit” in the Lit. book. The book talk for this quarter is due Thursday. ( 2/26/09) The reading log is also due Friday of this week.
Social Studies – We finished up the Unit on Egypt last week. They will be doing one sheet on pyramids this week. They will be starting on Ancient India this week. They will be doing a Southern Asia map this week.

Comm. Arts– The students will be doing Unit 22 in spelling. Test will be Fri. In reading they will be finishing up their book and writing in their reading logs. They will also be reading” Chinatown for the last Garden” in the Lit. book. In language they are still working on verbs. They should be writing a narrative paper about themselves.
Social Studies– They will be reading ”Hatshepsut’s Expedition to Punt” in their Social Studies book. They wll be writing a new scene in which Senmut ane the chief bargain over the exchange of goods. They will be reading the scenes in class as a group. Friday they will be reading the Scholastic News.

Comm. Arts – Unit 22 in spelling and test on Friday. Still working with verbs in language. In reading they will be reading in their assigned books and writing in their journals.
Social studies – They will read chapter 5 lesson 4 and Chapter 6 lesson 1 and doing the questions at the end of the chapter. They will also be doing an Egyptian Trade Routes map. They all need to bring a paper sack from home because they will be writing their name in hieroglyphs. On Friday they will be reading their Scholastic News Mag.

Comm.Arts – Spelling Unit 20 and Test Fri. Will continue working on Verbs. In reading the students will continue reading the book that was chosen for their group. I will pass out the Book talk assignment today. It needs to be signed and returned tomorrow. The book talk is due Feb. 26th. The reading logs are due Jan 30th.
Social studies – We will continue studying about Egypt this week. They will reading a story namedThe Eye of Horus The Egyptian Gods and will have 10 questions over what they read. They need to bring a paper sack to class by Fri. They will be writing their name in Hieroglyphics.
